SBC Chevy Head Spring Install Height?
I'm trying to set my spring height but this is new to me so im asking for a little help. I have a set of Comp Cam spring and the install height is 1.750" I measured the distance between the spring seat and bottom of the retainer (w/o springs) and it measured 1.850". So do I just need 0.10 shims and i'm set. I would be greatful for and help on this. Thanks Nate
yes if you fit a 100 thou spring washer under the spring that will bring the installed height to 1.750. make sure u buy good quality spring washers as cheap ones will just disintegrate after a short time. after engine is assembled check the valve springs to make sure they are not binding up when the valve is fully opened, make sure there is clearance between the spring coils.
