What kind of fabric can i use to paint/draw this map? (link to map in detail box)?

this is the map were using we want to make it look authentic so we want to try to do it some kind of fabric. HELP! best answers are given

I would use cotton, but something thick like what is used on a sofa. then use a sharpe marker (they make them in different thicknesses so you can make the outlines thicker and the letter thinner) you might want to stretch the fabric on a frame like a regular painting is. this will help to give you a taught surface to paint on when you are ready.
